We've all seen riders who invested much time and work in their riding, yet their skills did not improve significantly.

They are not to blame.

They likely didn't know how to be effective students, so their follow-up practice and study were less than productive.

Now, Dr. Stephanie Burns, International Adult Learning Specialist, shares what's possible for those of us in the horse world in three short and insightful mini-podcasts.

You'll enjoy what Stephanie has to say and learn a LOT!

Four Questions That Could Change Your Life

#1. If you believed you could substantially add new skills to your skill set (while improving the ones you already have) because of what you do on your own, where might you take your riding in the future?

#2. What would you do if you could learn faster by controlling your own learning process?

#3. How much time would you save in your goal pursuits if your learning process was more efficient and effective?

#4. What if your independent practice and study consistently produced significant, measurable improvements? How exciting would that be?

The Little-Known Process for Unlocking Skill Growth

Building a new skill is a well-defined process rarely taught or practiced.

We typically seek credible teaching sources when we develop a new skill or improve an existing one.

These may include a trainer, an instructor, a book, a video, or a more skilled friend.

Often, we understand what is being asked when given a new insight or riding instruction, but the sticky wicket is installing that new skill so we can execute it without thinking about it.

Unless your teacher is present to give you feedback and bring your attention to it, you are responsible for managing your learning process during your private study/practice time.

In this first podcast, Dr. Burns explains more about how you can learn how to confidently drive your learning process to achieve your goals more efficiently now and in the future.

What if you could transform your current learning situation to be way more effective?

You might go from being unsure if you're getting where you want to go reasonably fast enough to knowing your progress is on track.

But when you become your own best coach, a quiet confidence can result.

This results in learning more effectively.

It is possible to design and manage your own learning process.

It begins by understanding how your brain and body acquire new skills and then methodically using that information to develop them.

Applying that knowledge to your practices can produce increasingly accurate results.

Your skills develop more quickly and on target than before.
